The building and the management 2013-2014

  • January 18th Debi Thomas real state advertised this space as a turnkey salon and spa. (it was not, several things where broken)

  • 2013 February moved to 17th mortuary

  • January 10th, (822 nw Glisan space) Told us we had 3 days to decided if we where staying or leaving (we said we would leave) they where going to remodel our space and assume our spa area, leaving us with only the hair section. I didn’t want to shut the spa, so we opted to move.

  • January 17th found 210 nw 17th (mortuary)

  • January 29th (Email) states I had 15 days to look over the lease, take the deal or it was off the table. I was in a HUGE crunch.

  • February 15th signed the papers.

  • February 15th, we where told to give a list of everything that needed to be fixed, because when we where signing the papers we asked if the pool was working and as far as they knew it was, and that we just needed to make a list of the things that needed to be fixed and give it to management.

  • February 17th, moved the salon

  • February 19th, Hot tub was broken

  • Water heater was broken

  • March 1st got all the things out of the old 805 space

  • March 10th, got a notice that we owed NNN still. We had just paid 1st and last on February

  • February 21st, 2014.  The original mortician visited the salon and told us about the mortuary.

  • February 21st,  asked management why she never told us it was a mortuary. She said it wasn’t necessary.

  • April 6th had interview all bulbs in the salon blew up.

  • April 26th we finally got it with a post-it note on the back with the total of the NNN and I asked what they where for and she said she averages the amount that was used in the past or something like that.

  • April 30th, We where told to shut the front door. The smell was getting in the hall. Weird.

  • May 5th, contacted Debi Thomson and asked to get the owners number of our building so we could speak with them, having an eviction two months into moving into a space because we had our front door open was crazy to me, and any owner of a building would not be ok with that.

  • .

  • May 6th, wrote a letter to the owner asking to see or talk to him. Again, I was ignored

  • May 13th, got an eviction on the door telling us to shut the front door.

  • May 17th,  Lost several staff members, The evictions and the drama from upstairs management was too much to deal with, I understood. The salon itself was getting to comfortable personally, it was hard to keep employees separate from the inner workings of the business

  • May 30th, went to court over the front door. This can’t possibly be happening I thought. They came with an attorney and gave us an ultimatum. Close the door or leave. HUH? So we moved the door to the back entrance (through an ally and over gravel… this was crazy to me)

  • *Management (of the building) then stated she had no idea a salon was moving in. She did not want us there.

  • June 3- Yoga space, has told our employee that she doesn’t want to talk to us cause we fire our staff, (which was not even true. The manager of the building told her this)  The yoga space where also moving our sandwich boards, and being pretty negative. We didn’t have a sign on the building so the boards where all we had.

  • June 5th, : I went up to talk to the building manager. She did not care. As a matter of fact was extremely dismissive.

  • June 6th Sent an email to management letting her know we would be paying only rent, not the NNN because I wanted to know what they where for. They where way too high.

  • June 26th received an eviction letter taped to the door. (Again, I just want to know why my triple nets are so high. No response was given, just an eviction letter)

  • June 27th, I paid the NNN with a letter asking what they where for and asked to itemize out what I am paying for. This request was again ignored. I was however given an additional bill from the attorneys for $2500 for those letters they sent. Lol what tha?

  • Aug 1st state came in and audited the salon. Weird.Sept 7th at 2pm full salon walk out

  • Sept 8th talked to A girl named Jane, and decided to partner with her. She new a doctor that also wanted to lease the spa. Dr “something” (I don’t want to say her name.)

  • September 11th, spoke to the doctor, although she asked who my landlord was. (interesting)

  • Sept 21st talked to a random woman during her nail service. She told me she was seeing a guy named tony, who was partners with the owner of my building, said his attorney is his wife's father. And , the manager of the building, is his assistant and mistress Dom style! That this is what “the owner” does! He manipulates people and loves to go to court! 

  • September 24th,  had a woman come in and cleanse the salon for spirits. (it had gotten really bad)

  • November 3rd,  Jane came in and said let's tear up the contract! 

  • November 13th, moved out of my apartment

  • 2013 December 24th moved out of  mortuary

  • January 15th that doctor that was supposed to lease the space from me, was not leasing the space after I left. So it seems to me, she went to the management and spoke to them and somehow convinced them to push us out. And it worked! All so this doctor could have it.

  • February found a place to do hair. Scrambling to organize my life again, and pay for all the old debt to spa clients.

  • March 12th 2014, roommate dies

  • April 8th, go to court.
